The Toyota Urban Cruiser is the top-selling vehicle for NTT Toyota Eswatini. The company’s Managing Director in an interview states the reason behind this and more. Meanwhile, the vehicle is also the top-selling vehicle overall in South Africa for July

The Toyota Urban Cruiser has emerged as the top-selling car overall for July 2022 in South Africa. According to IOL motoring, a South African motoring publication, the passenger vehicle sold a volume of 1 854 units.
It is important to mention that the total volume of vehicles sold in South Africa is inclusive of sales from Eswatini as well. Gideon Tolken, the Managing Director (MD) of NTT Toyota Eswatini in an interview with this publication notes that they have also been witnessing relatively good sales for the Toyota Urban Cruiser. “We are averaging 10 vehicle sales for the Toyota Urban Cruiser per month. I think we have sold around 20 vehicles in the past two months. It has been our top selling vehicle as well, it has really done well” he noted.
The MD was however, quick to point out that there are factors that have probably contributed to the Toyota Urban Cruiser outselling other Toyota brands in the country. “For the last two months in the country, we were only supplying the Toyota Starlet and the Toyota Urban Cruiser, as we didn’t have the Toyota Hilux or our other brands, which probably contributed to the 10 sales per month”. The MD further noted that he was in no way dressing down the sales performance of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, as it is a good seller.
Additionally, IOL states that the Toyota Urban Cruiser was followed closely by the Ford Ranger (1 838), Volkswagen Polo Vivo (1 820), while last month’s top seller, the Suzuki Swift, placed fifth 1 521 sales.
