Standard Bank has officially opened its sixth digital branch in Siphofaneni, marking another milestone in the bank’s strategy to expand convenient, secure, and innovative banking services across Eswatini.

The state-of-the-art facility was officially opened by the bank’s Acting Head of Personal and Private Banking, Basil Mthethwa, who announced that the branch will operate 24 hours a day.

The digital branch, located at Siphofaneni Plaza, offers customers access to a full range of banking transactions, services, and products, ensuring uninterrupted service regardless of time or day.

The Siphofaneni outlet becomes the bank’s sixth digital branch in the country, following similar facilities in Siteki, Mbabane (by OK Foods), Ezulwini (Gables), Buhleni, and Manzini (The Hub).

In addition to its growing digital footprint, Standard Bank currently operates eight traditional branches nationwide, located in Mbabane, Matsapha, Manzini, Nhlangano, Big Bend, Simunye, Piggs Peak, and Tjaneni.

Mthethwa said the opening of the Siphofaneni Digital Branch will significantly ease access to banking services for the local community. He noted that residents will no longer need to travel long distances to access in-branch assistance, as the digital facility brings essential banking services closer to where people live and work. He added that the branch reflects the bank’s commitment to financial inclusion and customer convenience.

Standard Bank Head of Client Coverage, Celumusa Phakathi, said the digital branch forms part of the bank’s broader drive to promote digital banking education among emaSwati. He explained that as Siphofaneni continues to develop, it is important to introduce customers to a digital-first banking environment that aligns with global trends.

“Siphofaneni is a growing area, and providing customers with access to a digital banking world supports the country’s transition toward a more advanced economy. This approach makes transactions easier, faster, and more accessible for the local community,” Phakathi said.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Standard Bank executives and staff, as well as representatives from the Siphofaneni Chiefdom, reflecting strong community support for the initiative. Police representatives were also present and assured customers of round-the-clock security at the facility. Their presence underscored the bank’s commitment to providing a safe, secure, and reliable banking environment at all times.
