MTN Eswatini is evolving its role in the Kingdom, moving far beyond providing simple connectivity to position itself as a primary driver of business transformation.
The company is specifically targeting the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector, recognizing it as the critical backbone of the national economy.
Because of this, they are giving business owners digital tools and support to help their shops and companies last longer and run better.
Speaking at the MTN SME Business Connect Session for bakers, MTN Executive Head Enterprise Business Unit, Wandile Dlamini laid out a vision that moves past traditional customer service into a territory of deep-rooted partnership.
“Our mission is not simply just to provide quality services to you, our customers, but to be a trusted partner in digitalization, as well as business transformation,” Dlamini stated.
He emphasized that through specialized platforms, the goal is to enable local entrepreneurs to adopt technology more effectively, allowing them to manage operations with precision, reach broader markets, and build sustainable, future-ready businesses.
The sentiment was reinforced by Acting CEO Jerry Soko, who described the baker’s workshop as a collaborative space where the exchange of experiences is vital for survival.
Soko noted that the initiative aims to bridge the persistent knowledge gaps that often leave local businesses behind.
“We hope that this platform will enhance not just your businesses but your businesses as a whole in improving the quality of services that you offer,” Soko said.
“The aim is to create new connections and give SMEs access to thought leaders and key government stakeholders.”

Soko was particularly pointed about the urgency of the digital shift, stating flatly that ‘digitization is no longer a luxury, it is a catalyst to which the SME will grow.’
He highlighted that for industries like baking, which is deeply embedded in everyday household life and celebrations, technology offers a practical escape from manual inefficiency.
“It can help bakers manage orders in a digital way, help track those orders, and streamline payments on platforms that are safe and secure,” Soko explained. By moving marketing to digital spaces, local bakers can finally get their services closer to the modern consumer.
Given that SMEs are responsible for a significant share of job creation and innovation, the partnership with MTN is a strategic step toward building a more resilient, technology-led economy.
