Montigny Investments & Golden Jubilee Apparels will participate in the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards on the 26th of July 2022. The second edition of the annual awards will take place at the Boardwalk Casino & Hotel, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Export Excellence of Southern African Brands”

The participation of the two companies follows their respective victories during the Eswatini Annual Exporter Awards, held in May 2022. Montigny Investments won the Best Exporter to South Africa Award, and Golden Jubilee Apparels won Best Exporter to the USA. The Eswatini Annual Exporter Awards are a collaboration between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), and Business Eswatini.

Present at the Eswatini Awards in May 2022 was HE Jeanne Maloney, Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Hon. Manqoba Khumalo, Mr. Sibani Mngomezulu – CEO of EIPA, and Mr. Nathi Dlamini – CEO of Business Eswatini. Due to their success in the national awards, Montigny Investments and Golden Jubilee Apparels have now qualified for regional participation at the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards in July 2022.

EIPA’s, Head of Trade, Bongani Ntshangase, who was also part of the adjudication committee for the Eswatini National Exporters Awards had this to say, “We would like to congratulate Montigny and Golden Jubilee Apparels on their national wins and their inclusion in the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards this year. Encouraging export from Eswatini to the world is a key part of EIPA’s mandate when it comes to stimulating external trade activity.

This is why we saw value in joining this initiative and recognizing those who are doing great work to get local products marketed and bought outside of the country. Leading up to the regional awards in July we would like to wish our local participants all the best” he said.

The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards are a collaboration between the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) and the U.S. Government, through the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub (USAID Trade Hub). The USAID Trade Hub engages with all nine participating countries to increase sustainable growth, export competitiveness, and trade between these countries and South Africa, and collectively with the United States.

The awards recognize achievements in four key categories; these are, Regional Exporter of the Year (South Africa and the United States markets); Buyer of the Year (South Africa and United States markets); Capital Provider of the Year; and Trade Promotion Service Provider of the Year. The Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards Ceremony judging panel is drawn from the private and public sectors and composed of experts with significant international business experience.

Mr. Phakamisa George, the Acting Executive Manager of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation’s (ECDC) Trade and Investment Unit gave some background on the Southern Africa Regional Exporters Awards, “Returning for the 2nd year, the awards recognize Southern African exporters’ successful expansion into new markets and their long term export growth. The Awards are open in the nine participating countries of Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia. The awards recognize and honor Southern African firms engaged in international sustainable growth through innovation and commitment.”
