HIS MAJESTY INAUGURATES ICC, HANDS MANAGEMENT TO PALAZZO HOSPITALITY

In a landmark moment for the Kingdom’s economic and tourism trajectory, His Majesty King Mswati III has officially inaugurated the International Convention Centre (ICC), declaring the state-of-the-art complex a symbol of Eswatini’s rising global stature.

During the grand ceremony yesterday, which was attended by regional monarchs, heads of state, and captains of industry, His Majesty officially handed over the management of the facility and the adjoining Five-Star Hotel (FISH) to the globally recognized management firm, Palazzo Hospitality.
Reinforcing a sense of national pride and excellence, the King declared that the integrated complex will be known as the Ezulwini Palazzo.

Addressing the distinguished gallery of international dignitaries, His Majesty highlighted infrastructure development as a critical pillar in advancing the Kingdom’s economy and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

“Development of infrastructure is key to growing our country and creating jobs for emaSwati,” the King said. He stressed the transformative potential of the complex, noting that even though the five-star hotel is not yet operational, the ICC is strategically positioned to generate the revenue necessary for its completion.

The project serves as the culmination of a deliberate national effort to learn from global standards. His Majesty revealed that during his international travels, he consistently encourages his delegations to acquire skills and knowledge that can be repatriated for the nation’s benefit.
“Each time we travel abroad, we urge our delegations to learn and bring back valuable skills. Today, the design and architecture of this facility demonstrate that emaSwati have indeed done so,” the King noted. He pointed to the ICC as definitive proof that local talent has been successfully developed to deliver world-class infrastructure.
His Majesty extended his gratitude to the various joint venture companies for their excellent craftsmanship and acknowledged the significant role played by the Republic of China (Taiwan) in ensuring the project met international benchmarks.

The handover to Palazzo Hospitality marks a major milestone in Eswatini’s journey to becoming a leading hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism. The Ezulwini Palazzo is expected to act as a magnet for high-profile international events, significantly boosting the hospitality sector.

The state-of-the-art complex features modern conference facilities equipped for large-scale international summits, a world-class theatre, designed for cultural and professional productions, a premium hotel featuring close to 300 rooms, as well as premium dining spaces designed to cater to a global palate.

Beyond its architectural brilliance, the ICC symbolizes a new era of confidence and global engagement for the Kingdom. By referring to the project as the “Dubai yemaSwati,” His Majesty has set a clear vision for the future—one where Eswatini stands as a hub of innovation and excellence.

The official opening of the Ezulwini Palazzo ensures that Eswatini is now a competitive player in the global business tourism market, ready to convert its state-of-the-art infrastructure into tangible economic opportunities for all its citizens.
