Eswatini Set to Host 2027 SADC Sustainable Energy Week

The Kingdom of Eswatini has been confirmed as the host of the 2027 Southern African Development Community (SADC) Sustainable Energy Week (SEW).

This is a key regional platform that brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and development partners to advance clean energy and energy efficiency. The announcement was made during the official opening of the 2026 SADC SEW in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, an event inaugurated by the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

This year’s forum convened Energy Ministers, regulators, private-sector representatives, and development stakeholders under the theme “Driving Regional Growth through Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency.”

SADC Member States are accelerating the implementation of National Energy Compacts to expand energy access, increase renewable energy adoption, and strengthen energy security throughout the region.

In parallel, initiatives such as the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) Pool Plan (2026–2040) and the Regional Transmission Infrastructure Financing Facility are strengthening regional cooperation and investment in sustainable energy infrastructure.

The 2026 edition highlighted the growing momentum toward an integrated regional energy market, with a focus on off-grid solutions, energy efficiency, and inclusive industrialization.

Hosting the 2027 edition places Eswatini at the forefront of regional energy dialogue. The event is expected to deepen discussions on energy security, attract investment in renewable-energy projects, and support initiatives for sustainable economic growth.

Energy sector experts anticipate that the Eswatini-hosted forum will build on the successes of previous editions, providing a platform for greater collaboration among governments, development partners, and the private sector.

By fostering partnerships and showcasing innovative energy solutions, SEW 2027 will help build a more sustainable and resilient energy future for Southern Africa. The Kingdom’s leadership in hosting the event reflects its commitment to advancing clean energy development and regional integration, further solidifying its role as a key player in SADC’s sustainable energy transition.
