The Eswatini Institute of Accountants (ESIA), the regulator for the profession of accountants and auditors in Eswatini, has announced the appointment of Dr. Ndiphethe Olive Mabila as its Executive Director, effective from 2nd January 2024.
Dr. Mabila holds a Doctor of Technology: Public Management from the Durban University of Technology, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA), and twenty-nine (29) academic/professional certificates from various institutions. He also has over 20 years of experience in academia, public management, aviation security, and anti-corruption.
The experienced leader has also worked for several reputable institutions such as the Institute of Development Management (IDM) where he served as the Country Director (Eswatini campus).
Another notable position previously held by Dr. Mabila is that of Deputy Director for the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Dr. Mabila is expected to lead the ESIA strategy to become a significant player in areas of research, education, training, and consultancy for the accountancy profession in Eswatini and beyond.
He will also be responsible for enforcing the compliance of the ESIA members with the international standards and the ethical requirements of the profession.
The Council, Management, and staff of the ESIA congratulated Dr. Mabila on his appointment and wished him all the best in the execution of the ESIA duties. The Council Chairperson, Makhosazana Mhlanga, said that they are confident that with his diverse background and influential skills, he will significantly contribute and drive the ESIA mandate.
The ESIA is the largest accounting body in Eswatini, with over 200 members, 12% of whom are in public practice. The ESIA is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Eastern, Central, and Southern African Federation of Accountants (ECSAFA).
The ESIA provides a professional home for accountants and auditors in the public and private sectors and offers auditing, accounting, and allied services to the general public and business entities.
