RSTP TO HOST 2ND EDITION OF STEM EXPO AT UNESWA


The Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) is working towards stimulating interest among the country’s youth to consider Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers and skills to help the country move away from being a resource based economy and become a knowledge based economy. The expo is themed STEM Careers and Skills of the Future Expo and will be held this Saturday at the Sports Emporium, Kwaluseni Campus.

The Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) is working towards encouraging the country’s future to look at STEM Careers through hosting the 2nd edition of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Expo. The expo which is themed STEM Careers and Skills of the Future Expo will be held this Saturday at the Sports Emporium, Kwaluseni Campus of the University of Eswatini.

The expo will bring together students from different schools around the country to explore career opportunities presented by STEM. RSTP is partnering with WomEng and the Ministry of Education in this year’s edition of the annual expo which has activities such as Exhibitions by different companies, Seminars and Contests. Topics to be discussed at the seminars include “Getting ‘Unstuck’ and Unlocking Your Leadership Potential”, “STEM Careers and Future Demand Skills” and “Equipping the Next Leaders in STEM”.

As part of their mandate, RSTP is working towards stimulating interest among the country’s youth to consider STEM careers and skills to help the country move away from being a resource based economy and become a knowledge based economy. The STEM Expo is one of the activities through which the entity and its partners are trying to achieve this. Others include the ICT Fair which RSTP hosts in partnership with UNESWA, EIPA and the government.

The STEM Careers and Skills of the Future Expo will also see Start-Up companies that are in the STEM fields exhibiting which is expected to encourage the students that will be participating at the expo to not only consider employment opportunities but also look at going into entrepreneurship. Big corporates that will also exhibit at the expo include ESWADE, YOUTH ENTERPRISE REVOLVING FUND, STEFANUTTI AND STOCKS, ESWATINI REVENUE SERVICES, ESWATINI POST AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION, CERIUM SCIENTIFIC, ESWATINI COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION, KELLOG’S AND ESWATINI BANK.

The expo will also turn out to be a family day as there will be different games.  Entry to the event is free.
