MTN Eswatini has again attained the best network award in the country following their previous win last year.
This was the outcome of an annual network benchmarking campaign performed by Rohde & Schwarz SwissQual where the quality and performance of Eswatini’s leading mobile network operators is tested leading to MTN Eswatini maintaining the number one position by a significant margin compared to other operators in the country.
The drive-test-based data collection campaign was implemented from August 6 to August 24, 2022, and covered Eswatini’s major cities, towns, and roads. During this mobile network benchmarking exercise, over 2,200 voice calls and over 12,500 individual data service tests were performed to calculate a Best Network Performance Score.
MTN Eswatini attained a score of 348 out of 400 for voice service and 297 out of 600 for data service. Rohde & Schwarz SwissQual AG applied a fully transparent, harmonized, and end-user-centric methodology which calculates a single overall Network Performance Score.
The scoring methodology includes essential aspects of popular mobile services. The resulting Network Performance reflects the user’s perceived performance of a mobile network in daily use regardless of the available technologies. The score includes essential aspects of popular mobile services.
MTN CEO, Wandile Mtshali expressed excitement over what he called a validation that the MTN network is indeed the best in the country. “MTN allocates a significant budget towards network advancements on an annual basis to ensure a stable, reliable, and quality experience for our customers. We believe that every LiSwati deserves the benefits of a modern connected life which is why we are relentless in investing in our network”, he said.
Mtshali further shared that “with the world having become digital, our desire is to be an enabler in this changing world. The way we do business has evolved and all facets of life have become digital. Our ambition is to be best placed to enable this digital evolution and we believe that our 5G network roll will further improve our data services in 2023 presenting consumers and enterprises with endless connectivity possibilities”.
The overall performance score is an aggregation of rated service performance over different regions covered by mobile networks with a mobile phone that supports all available networks.
Furthermore, the data collection process and analysis follow established standards and rules where the performance assessment used tests of popular services in mobile networks, such as voice telephony, data transfer, video, and app-specific services.
“We congratulate MTN Eswatini for ranking first with a score of 645 out of 1000 points on the Rohde & Schwarz Network Performance Score,” said Hanspeter Bobst the Chief Executive Officer of Rohde & Schwarz SwissQual AG.
