The Institute of People Management (IPM) Eswatini successfully hosted its inaugural Golf Fundraiser Day on 19 March 2026 at the picturesque Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, marking a historic moment in the organisation’s 58-year legacy of advancing human resources management and leadership development in the Kingdom.
The event brought together 64 golfers from across the corporate and professional spectrum, competing in a two-ball alliance format.
The tournament commenced with a shotgun start at 9:15 a.m., offering participants a seamless blend of spirited competition and high-level networking against the backdrop
of one of the nation’s most esteemed golfing venues.
A Fitting Tribute to Women’s Month
The golf fundraiser was officially opened by Khangeziwe Mabuza, Chief Executive Officer of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (SMVAF), who underscored the significance of the initiative taking place during International Women’s Month.
Also in attendance was Babhekile Matsebula, Director General of the Eswatini Financial Intelligence Centre, whose presence added to the distinguished gathering.
The leadership of IPM was well represented, with President Sharon Maziya, Vice President Leonard Bennett, Secretary Lindiwe Dlamini, Treasurer Sam Mzileni, and Member Mandla Mamba all in attendance.
A Legacy of Contribution
Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, IPM President Sharon Maziya reflected on the organisation’s enduring role in shaping the nation’s professional landscape. “For 58 years, IPM has been at the forefront of shaping the business and professional landscape in Eswatini,” said Maziya.
“This event is not merely about golf; it is a celebration of the many HR professionals, leaders, and changemakers who have passed through our programmes and continue to make meaningful contributions to our nation’s growth.”

The fundraiser garnered robust support from a cross-section of business partners, demonstrating strong confidence in IPM’s mission to cultivate human capital. Sponsors and participants benefited from extensive brand visibility across the course, with branding opportunities strategically positioned at fairways, tee boxes, greens, and watering holes.
Corporate Support: A Driving Force
The seamless execution of the event was made possible through the generous backing of sponsors who embraced the participation packages offered by IPM. Teams registered per four-ball, while anchor sponsors and prize donors stepped forward to ensure the fundraiser achieved its objectives.
Maziya extended the institute’s gratitude to its partners, “IPM would like to thank Ubombo Sugar Limited as the Anchor Sponsor and Letshego as a recognised sponsor. Other sponsors included SMVAF and RES Corporation, who generously sponsored prizes for the winners.”
Echoing this sentiment, IPM Vice President Leonard Bennett commended the business community for its enthusiastic response and acknowledged the dedication of the IPM office team in bringing the event to fruition.
“The level of support we have received is a testament to the value that the corporate sector places on human capital development,” Bennett observed. “When businesses invest in organisations like IPM, they are investing in the very people who drive their organisations forward.”
A Strong Foundation for the Future
As IPM commemorates 58 years of service, the inaugural golf fundraiser has laid a solid foundation for what promises to become a mainstay on the annual corporate sporting calendar. The event not only raised vital resources to support IPM’s programmes and member services but also strengthened the ties between human resources practitioners, business leaders, and the wider professional community.
With plans already underway for next year’s tournament, IPM has reaffirmed that the synergy between sport, networking, and professional development offers a winning formula for advancing the people management profession in Eswatini.
