The Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo has emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing economic empowerment through the operationalization of the Citizens Economic Empowerment Act.
Khumalo highlighted that the appointment of members to the Citizen Economic Empowerment Council is nearing completion, highlighting the government’s dedication to fostering a favourable business environment for Emaswati.
“We are determined to improve the ease of doing business in Eswatini for our people.”Eswatini businesses must thrive and contribute positively to our economy,” he asserted.
In a move to streamline business operations, Khumalo announced plans to centralize governmental services essential for business operations into a single venue.
This initiative aims to simplify processes for entrepreneurs by consolidating entities like ESRA, Home Affairs, EEC, and Water into one accessible location.
“Our goal is to reduce the bureaucratic hurdles that entrepreneurs face, going from building to building to seek essential assistance. This operation is costly and leads to individuals who want to start a business losing some of their capital. By centralizing these services, we aim to minimize costs and time spent navigating administrative requirements.”
Expressing gratitude, Khumalo extended thanks to sponsors of the 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards which comprise the FNB Eswatini Foundation, ICDF, FINCORP, ENPF, Old Mutual, and newly onboarded sponsor Infinity Links Pty.
He commended all participants of the award ceremony, reaffirming pride in the competitive spirit displayed by all entrants.
