The Eswatini government has officially handed over the E4 billion Manzini Arch Development Project, to African Alliance, marking a significant milestone in the development of Manzini.
The site handover ceremony held at the Manzini Golf Club, was officiated by the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo who emphasized the project’s transformative potential for the city and the national economy.
The Manzini Arch Project will cover 28 hectares of prime land, promising to inject substantial economic growth into the city. The project is expected to redefine the urban landscape of Manzini by introducing world-class infrastructure, modern amenities, and innovative commercial spaces.
The project represents a multi-phased development with a projected total investment of E4 billion, with the first phase costing between E1.4 billion and E1.6 billion.
During his speech, Khumalo highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth through strategic partnerships, stating, “The Manzini Arch Project not only holds immense economic potential but also embodies our collective aspirations for a brighter future. It will significantly enhance the quality of life for the people of Manzini and beyond.”
The project was first introduced in May 2023, when His Majesty King Mswati III cut the sod, officially marking the commencement of the venture during his tour of the African Alliance Projects in the Malkerns-Manzini corridor.
The development is expected to generate considerable economic opportunities, beginning with the creation of 1,200 jobs during the initial construction phase, set to begin in February 2025.
Among the most notable features of the first phase of the project is The Jewel, a world-class facility that will house key government services, ensuring greater convenience for Manzini residents.
The building will centralize important administrative functions, providing easier access to essential services in a state-of-the-art setting. Additionally, the city’s first KFC drive-thru will be introduced as part of the commercial spaces, catering to the modern lifestyles of Manzini’s residents and visitors. This is expected to be a major attraction, drawing foot traffic and further investment into the city.
A modern hotel will also be established within the complex, offering accommodation options for both business and leisure travelers, thereby enhancing the tourism and hospitality sectors. Moreover, a thoughtfully designed public park will be developed to cater to people of all ages.
This inclusive space will promote community gatherings and outdoor activities, offering Manzini residents a safe and attractive recreational environment. Retail spaces will be integrated into the development, providing opportunities for local businesses to flourish. These spaces are designed to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, key components in stimulating local economic growth.
Preliminary groundwork for the Manzini Arch Project will commence in the coming months, with full-scale construction slated for February 2025. The first phase is expected to take 24 months to complete.
