Datamatics Eswatini is going global!
Datamatics Eswatini, winner of the 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Awards (EYA), has been invited to participate in the upcoming 11th International Best Practice Competition (IBPC) 2025 — a global platform that spotlights innovation and excellence in business.
This was revealed by Datamatics Eswatini co-founder Sibusiso Baartjies at the launch of the EYA 2025 at the Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini last week.
The company received the formal invitation following its recent recognition as the Overall Winner at the national EYA competition, an initiative led by the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO) in collaboration with partners including FNB Eswatini and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade.
The company, co-founded by Sibusiso Baartjies and Thokozane Ginindza, specializes in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data analytics, and IT solutions. The firm has earned acclaim for its work in helping government departments and businesses make evidence-based decisions through custom geospatial applications and data visualization tools.

The International Best Practice Competition (IBPC) is a global platform that brings together high-performing organizations to showcase and benchmark innovative practices that deliver real results.
Held virtually, the competition involves a written submission, a video presentation, and a live Q&A with an expert panel of judges. It offers participants international visibility, expert feedback, and opportunities to learn from top organizations across various sectors.
In an official invitation letter dated 11 April 2025, the IBPC organizing committee congratulated the directors on their outstanding achievement and invited the firm to showcase its best practice model on a global stage.
The competition, which is hosted virtually, brings together high-performing organizations to benchmark and learn from one another through written submissions, video presentations, and live Q&A sessions with a distinguished panel of international judges.
The event is open to organizations worldwide, with this year’s edition expected to feature more than 15 webinars, each spotlighting up to seven global best practice presentations.
As part of its recognition of African excellence, the IBPC has also granted Datamatics a 50% discount on the application fee using a special code reserved for African organizations.
Speaking during the EYA 2025 launch, Baartjies described the national award as a “deeply humbling milestone” that had already begun to open new doors. “It has strengthened our credibility, introduced us to valuable networks, and reaffirmed the importance of the work we do,” he said.
He also paid tribute to his team, customers, and business partner, Thokozane Ginindza, for their dedication and belief in Datamatics Eswatini’s vision of making superior data management accessible and affordable.

Commenting on the company’s achievement, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo said, “This is exactly the kind of story we want to see more of — local businesses that start from humble beginnings and rise to compete at global levels. Datamatics is a testament to the talent, innovation, and resilience that exists within Eswatini’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.”
The Minister further praised SEDCO for its instrumental role in identifying and supporting such enterprises. “SEDCO has done a commendable job in creating platforms like the EYA that allow businesses to be seen, supported, and celebrated. We encourage more entrepreneurs to engage with these programmes.”
