Eswatini Set for E220 Million Tech and Infrastructure Injection from Turkmenistan’s Aydyn Gijeler

Turkmen enterprise Aydyn Gijeler has expressed interest in investing over E220 million ($11.7 million) into Eswatini’s ICT, transport, and immigration sectors, boosting the Kingdom’s technological and infrastructural landscape.

The proposed funding stems directly from His Majesty King Mswati III’s diplomatic mission to Turkmenistan last year, which was reinforced by a subsequent bilateral meeting with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

This is according to the Government of Eswatini. To bring the the multi-million emalangeni initiative closer to reality, an Eswatini delegation led by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo; Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu; and Minister of Home Affairs, Princess Lindiwe, met with Aydyn Gijeler’s top executive.

Aydyn Gijeler operates as a joint government- and private sector-backed enterprise in Turkmenistan, known for manufacturing electronics and developing large-scale digital solutions. Their proposed capital deployment into Eswatini will specifically target ICT development, transport logistics, and immigration-related systems.

Welcoming the multi-million emalangeni commitment, Commerce Minister Manqoba Khumalo pitched the Kingdom as an ideal commercial hub for Central Asian companies looking for a foothold in Africa.
“Eswatini is strategically positioned as a gateway for expanding operations across the African continent and beyond,” Minister Khumalo said, referencing the country’s access to competitive regional markets like the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The integration of Aydyn Gijeler’s technology is expected to modernize Eswatini’s border control and national transport systems, while simultaneously boosting local tech capacity and creating high-value jobs.

The deal is moving forward on a swift timeline. Aydyn Gijeler executives completed an initial site tour of Eswatini last month. Following Saturday’s ministerial brief, the firm is scheduled to return to the Kingdom in early June for further engagements aimed at advancing the proposed investment initiatives, according to the Government of Eswatini.
