Eswatini Chevening Alumni Network to Host Second Scholarship Information Session

The Eswatini Chevening Alumni Network, with support from the British High Commission in Eswatini, is set to host its second in-person Chevening Scholarship information session aimed at empowering aspiring emaSwati to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.

Set to take place at the British High Commissioner’s Residence at Royal Villas on Saturday, 27 September 2025, the session is part of the Alumni Network’s efforts to ensure more emaSwati access the prestigious Chevening Scholarship.

The Chevening Scholarship provides fully funded opportunities to study in the UK, develop leadership skills, and build global networks.

Sibongiseni Zondi, Communications Coordinator for the Eswatini Chevening Alumni Network, said the initiative reflects the Network’s commitment to national development.

“As Chevening Alumni in Eswatini, we are united by a common commitment to developing our country, and for us, it starts with giving back to emaSwati,” he said.

“We know that there are plenty of talented and driven emaSwati who want to grow and would excel as Cheveners. But many of them often do not have the necessary guidance about the Scholarship. That is the gap we are aiming to bridge and ensure that many others ultimately experience this life-changing opportunity that we experienced in the UK.”

The Chevening Scholarship, funded by the UK government, is awarded to talented individuals from around the world, including Eswatini, to pursue one-year postgraduate degrees at any eligible university in the United Kingdom.

It targets individuals who demonstrate strong academic ability, leadership potential, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their home countries. To be eligible, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, have at least two years of work experience, and be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country.

By hosting regular sessions, the Eswatini Chevening Alumni Network hopes to demystify the application process, share personal experiences, and encourage more emaSwati to apply.
