EIPA Invites Food and Beverage Traders to Exhibit in Taiwan

The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) has officially opened applications for local food and beverage companies that wish to take part in the Taipei International Food Show from 26 to 29 June 2024.

The International Food Expo will take place in Taiwan and will allow traders to meet with potential clients, distributors, buyers, and potential trade partners to market their products in a highly profitable Asian market.

According to a press release issued by EIPA, this collaboration will further enable Eswatini companies to market their products to buyers from mainly Asia, Europe, and South America. The support to local companies includes subsidies covering transport, a space at the Eswatini exhibition stand, accommodation, marketing and branding, and B2B meetings with buyers.

EIPA has once again received support from the Government of Taiwan through the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). The two organizations will work together to facilitate trade opportunities for Eswatini-based businesses to access the Taiwanese market through trade shows.

Sibusiso Mnisi, Manager of External Trade at EIPA gave some insight on the benefit of businesses applying for this opportunity,

“We are pleased to once again have the support of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) as we prepare to select companies from Eswatini to exhibit their goods in Taiwan during the Taipei International Food Show. TAITRA has provided support for 22 traders to be able to showcase their products to the Asian market and market themselves to prospective customers in Taiwan. This is for three trade shows which will take place this year. These shows include Designed Giftionery in April 2024 (applications closed in mid-February), the Taipei International Food Show in June 2024, and the Kaohsiung Food Show in October 2024. Traders wishing to exhibit at the Kaohsiung Food Show in October 2024 will be invited to do so in mid-2024. This being said, the traders who are selected for the Taipei International Food Show, should be export-ready and able to produce at an international standard in terms of the quality of their final product in line with the demands of an international market,” he said.

“Those who want to apply can go directly to this link http://tinyurl.com/EIPAtradeapply for the application form by the deadline of 15 March 2024. We encourage those who are eligible to focus on positioning the unique selling point of their product range and to put forward goods that markets beyond our borders could easily adopt. Queries can be sent to trade@sipa.org.sz,” Mnisi continued.

EIPA states that Eswatini’s participation in these trade shows forms part of efforts to deepen trade relations between Eswatini and Taiwan under the Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) signed between Eswatini and Taiwan. The local companies’ participation, sponsored by TAITRA and facilitated by EIPA, will see the traders representing themselves at the 3 expos allowing them to talk about and sell their sales pitch to new markets directly.
