The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) says the Vusumnotfo Expo is the perfect engagement platform for businesses.
The Vusumnotfo Expo is a collaboration between The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), the Federation of Eswatini Business Community (FESBC), and Tums Water World Hotel. This year’s Expo will run from 22-25 March 2023. The event will be taking place for the second year running and is aimed at developing trade and economic activity in Eswatini.
EIPA Manager Domestic Trade, Siphesihle Nkhabindze notes that the Expo has led to opportunities for businesses to increase their income and trade. He said through the availed stalls and exhibition stands businesses are able to buy space and market or sell their goods and services to the public and to other businesses.
Nkhabindze added that the Expo also presents an opportunity for business people to network as the event is mostly attended by influential business leaders.
“The Expo is ideal for a number of business people. Take for instance the business dinner which will be held on the 22nd of March. A number of stakeholders will be present, from the government, state-owned enterprises’ leaders, captains of industry, financial institutions, and a whole lot more. This enables business owners the opportunity to network and expand their businesses reach.”
Tanya Fyfe, CEO of FESBC shares the same sentiments as Nkhabindze highlighting that because of the Expo one business that was heavily hit by the COVID-19 pandemic will be recapitalized this year. “One business will be resuscitated through the proceeds made by the event and sponsorships received from partners and stakeholders. This initiative is named ‘One Project at a Time” and is specifically targeted at small and micro enterprises operating in Eswatini. Without the Expo this would not have been possible” she noted.
This year’s Expo will also feature a speaker line-up mainly composed of women. Nkhabindze says this will help women share experiences as well as opportunities, thereby increasing the capacity to grow their businesses.
“We have chosen two focus areas for this year’s Expo firstly, financing options for any business and secondly, shining the spotlight on women in trade. We have chosen these two focus areas because we often find that finance is one of the main areas which hinders a business from scaling and reaching new levels. We have also pinpointed the need to focus on empowering female traders to increase their presence in the country.”
