NTT Toyota Eswatini, Managing Director Gideon Tolken says they managed to sell 19 Toyota Hilux units during the period of August largely because of stock availability, which was not the case in previous months.

Toyota has once again come tops as the most selling vehicle for the month of August. However, this time around, the Toyota Hilux has been the most selling vehicle, compared to last month, when the Toyota Urban Cruiser was the most selling vehicle.
According to Car Magazine South Africa, the Toyota Hilux topped the sales charts with a total of 3 417 units. The carmaker attributed the increased sales to the gradual ramp-up of production at their KZN assembly plant.
NTT Toyota Eswatini, the country’s Toyota dealership in an interview with this publication noted that the numbers were up mainly because the assembly plant in Kwazulu Natal is up and running. The Managing Director (MD) of the company, Gideon Tolken says this led to them having increased stock and selling a total of nineteen (19) Toyota Hilux units in August.
Furthermore, Tolken revealed that as a dealership for August they were able to sell Three (3) Toyota Starlets, Three (3) Toyota Corolla Quests, Four (4) Toyota Urban Cruisers, Two (2) Toyota Fortuners, and eight (8) Toyota Hiace.
In the passenger category, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo was the most popular passenger car in August with a sales volume of 2 359 units. Toyota’s budget SUV, the Urban Cruiser which was the most selling car last month sits at number three in the passenger category with a total of 2 359 units sold.
June 2022’s most selling passenger vehicle the Suzuki Swift is in second place in the hatchback category with 1369 units sold. The Suzuki Swift was followed by Volkswagen Polo 1 286 and Renault Kwid 824, while the Toyota Starlet had a slower than usual month with 774 sales.
