Old Mutual Eswatini has launched a WhatsApp-based Unit Trust investment platform, designed to enhance convenience, speed, and ease of transactions for its customers.
The platform, revealed during a ceremony attended by key stakeholders, signifies a shift in how clients engage with investment products. The company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mbongeni Mkhabela, speaking at the event, highlighted that this development marks a “revolutionary moment” for Old Mutual Eswatini as it integrates digital solutions into wealth management.
With an entry-level investment of just E250 for the new service, customers can now invest in Unit Trusts from the comfort of their homes using WhatsApp. Traditionally, customers had to visit a branch, fill out paperwork, and go through a manual approval process.

However, with the new digital platform, they can start and manage investments seamlessly by simply saving a designated number – 76720073 – and following prompts to invest in either a Balanced Fund or a Money Market Fund.
Sifiso Nsibande, Head of Asset Management at Old Mutual Eswatini, expressed enthusiasm about this innovative step, stating, “Investment products have long been linked to traditional banking, but today we are thrilled to present a digital-first approach to wealth creation. We are bringing investments to our customers’ fingertips, making it easier for everyone to take control of their financial future.”
The WhatsApp-based Unit Trust platform provides a streamlined and user-friendly experience for investors. By sending a message to the dedicated WhatsApp number, users can: view available investment options, choose a preferred investment fund, submit necessary documents digitally, and request a callback for further assistance.
According to the CFO, this launch is just the beginning of Old Mutual Eswatini’s comprehensive digital transformation journey. He reassured customers that the company is devoted to ongoing innovation in delivering financial solutions that align with modern demands.

“We recognize the necessity for convenience and efficiency in today’s fast-paced world. This WhatsApp journey is the first of many digital innovations we plan to unveil as we work to stay ahead of the curve in financial services,” he noted.
Throughout the event, the company underscored its commitment to customer feedback and continuous improvement. Customers are encouraged to share their experiences using the new platform, ensuring that Old Mutual Eswatini can refine and enhance the service over time.
