MTN Eswatini has been honored with the prestigious Y’ello Care Regional Award, bringing home a prize valued at $30,000 (approximately E563,000).
The award was presented at the Group Leadership Gathering (GLG) 2025, held in Johannesburg, in recognition of the company’s steadfast dedication to community service and innovative social impact.
The Y’ello Care Regional Award is part of MTN Group’s annual ’21 Days of Y’ello Care’ campaign, which encourages employees to volunteer their time and resources to support local communities.
MTN Eswatini’s outstanding performance in this campaign has set a new benchmark for excellence within the Southern and East Africa (SEA) region.
In addition to the Y’ello Care Regional Award, MTN Eswatini also received the Best Use of Digital & Financial Tools Award and the Acts with Inclusion Award. These honors highlight the company’s dedication to leveraging technology for social good and fostering an inclusive environment.
MTN Eswatini’s CEO, Wandile Mtshali, expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements, stating, “I couldn’t be prouder to lead such an outstanding team. The prize money and recognition will enable MTN Eswatini to further invest in community projects that drive economic recovery and development.”
The Y’ello Care theme for 2024 was “Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow, which was centered on Education for all. The company’s initiatives included the refurbishment of Sitsatsaweni Primary School block of classrooms, the provision of a solar-powered borehole at eMhlangeni Primary School, the provision of books and a mental health care facility at Malindza Refugee Camp, the provision of portable science kits to rural schools, and lastly, the provision of assistive devices to children with special needs. This campaign reached over 3000 children from all over Eswatini.
By focusing on education, MTN Eswatini is not only addressing immediate needs but also laying the foundation for a sustainable future for the children and the entire community in Eswatini. Education truly is a powerful tool for long-term change.
