Letshego Eswatini Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Phindile Ndlandla has won the Young CFO award at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) 2022 Africa inaugural awards.
The Young CFO award recognizes a CFO 35 years or younger, who has demonstrated the seven vital qualities of professional accountants. The awards were held in Johannesburg, yesterday.
According to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the awards recognize, celebrate and showcase CFOs who have contributed to the advancement of their organization and the accountancy profession.
The objectives of the ACCA Africa CFO Awards are to recognize outstanding performance, raise the profile of this strategic role, highlight the essential role that CFOs and the finance functions play within organizations, showcase the good finance practices that help build resilient businesses and inspire the upcoming finance, business leaders and CEOs.
In an interview with this publication, Phindile said she was humbled by the victory and did not really know what to say. “I do not know what to say, I am lost for words, I am humbled and I am just so happy. This is beyond my wildest dreams, I am just so happy” she said.
Phindile said this award means a lot because of what it symbolizes. She said this is not just about her, but the country, her organization, and everyone who has played a role in what she has achieved in her career. “I have won a number of awards in my life, but this is the biggest of them all. I cannot begin to imagine what this means for the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Letshego group. Special thanks go to my family, my Chief Executive Officer, Mongi Dlamini, and everyone who has played a role in shaping my career. I am eternally grateful” she said.
Worth noting is that Phindile Ndlandla joined Letshego Eswatini in 2017 as a CFO after having worked for PwC Eswatini.
