FNB Eswatini has appointed Elizabeth Arden as Chairperson of its Board of Directors, effective 3 November 2025, making her the first woman to hold the position in the bank’s 30-year history.
Arden, a Swati national, has been a member of the Board since 2018 and currently chairs the Audit Committee. A seasoned Chartered Accountant, she brings over three decades of experience across finance, credit, risk management, compliance, and strategic leadership within the banking and agricultural sectors.
Throughout her career, she has held several senior positions, including Chief Financial Officer, General Manager, and Executive Director, demonstrating a strong track record in turnaround strategies, regulatory compliance, and financial restructuring.
Speaking on her appointment, Arden expressed both humility and excitement at the historic milestone.
“It is a great honour to be entrusted with this important role, especially as the bank celebrates 30 years of remarkable achievements. Over the years, the bank has been led by incredible stewards who demonstrated drive, commitment, and courage. I feel incredibly fortunate to be taking over from a seasoned chairman who leaves the bank on a solid platform, with a highly competent Board supported by an equally skilled management team,” she said.

She succeeds Joseph Vusumuzi Ndlangamandla, who will retire at the conclusion of the bank’s Annual General Meeting in October 2025 after nine years of service.
FNB Eswatini lauded Ndlangamandla for his leadership, noting that during his tenure he strengthened the Board’s effectiveness, enhanced stakeholder confidence, and guided the bank through key phases of growth and transformation. “The bank extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Ndlangamandla for his outstanding service and invaluable contributions,” the statement read.
