In a vibrant display of cultural diplomacy and artisanal talent, the Kingdom of Eswatini’s Handicraft department made a significant impact at the 37th Surajkund International Mela Crafts Fair in New Delhi, India.
The Surajkund International Mela Crafts Fair is a prestigious event that celebrates the diversity and richness of traditional crafts from around the world. It serves as a platform for artisans and craftsmen to showcase their exquisite creations, and we were honoured to be a part of this grand exhibition.
The fair, renowned for its celebration of traditional crafts, provided a global stage for Eswatini’s artisans to showcase their skills. Intricate beadwork, delicate wood carvings, and vibrant textiles drew admiration from visitors, reflecting the unique blend of Swazi tradition with contemporary design.
Throughout the month-long event, Eswatini’s representatives engaged in a rich exchange of ideas and techniques with international counterparts, fostering a broader appreciation for traditional crafts. This interaction not only enriched the knowledge of Eswatini’s artisans but also sowed the seeds for new friendships and collaborations across borders.
As highlighted by the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, the successful participation of the Eswatini team not only strengthened the bilateral relations with India but also served as a testament to the enduring friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
