ERS to Honour Compliant Clients

The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) is set to honour businesses and individuals who exemplify tax compliance and integrity at its third annual Client Appreciation Day, hosted under the theme “Celebrating Compliance, Powered by Digital Transformation.”

Scheduled for Friday, 18 July 2025, the prestigious event will recognize top-performing clients who have consistently upheld their tax obligations, reinforcing ERS’s mission to foster a transparent, accountable, and collaborative tax culture across the country.

“This initiative is a testament to the organization’s appreciation and its commitment to fostering a tax culture built on mutual respect and accountability,” said Ntobeko Dlamini, Director of Communications and Marketing at ERS.

“Our clients are not just taxpayers; they are vital partners in nation-building. Through this appreciation event, we honour their essential contribution to the country’s economic growth and development.”

The 2025 edition will celebrate excellence across 13 economic sectors, ranging from agriculture and construction to ICT and financial services. New additions this year include regional micro enterprises and sole traders with an annual turnover below E500,000, as well as clearing agents, reflecting ERS’s broader inclusion of small players who show exceptional commitment to compliance.

The event will culminate with the announcement of the Overall Top Contributor, selected from among the sectoral winners.

Categories to be Recognized:
• Agriculture, forestry and fishing
• Construction
• Financial and insurance activities
• Information, communication and technology
• Manufacturing, mining, quarrying, and other industrial activities
• Real estate, professional, scientific, technical, administrative and support services
• Education, human health and social work activities
• Wholesale and retail trade
• Transportation and storage
• Accommodation and food service activities
• Regional micro enterprises and sole traders (below E500,000 turnover)
• Clearing agents
• Overall top contributor

Maintaining the event’s credibility and fairness, Dlamini revealed that award recipients are selected through a rigorous adjudication process led by a panel of ERS professionals.

The evaluation is based on clearly defined criteria, including:
• High tax contribution
• Timely filing and payment
• Absence of pending disputes
• Clean customs and excise records

This approach, she added, ensures that only the most deserving clients, those who not only meet legal obligations but go above and beyond, receive recognition.

This year’s theme reflects ERS’s ongoing digital transformation, which has played a pivotal role in streamlining tax processes, enhancing transparency, and improving client services.

“Digital transformation is not just about technology—it’s about making compliance easier, faster, and more reliable for everyone. By celebrating compliance in the digital age, we’re also celebrating the progress Eswatini is making towards a more efficient and responsive revenue service,” Dlamini added.

The 2024 edition, held on 28 June 2024, was graced by the Minister for Finance, Honourable Neal Rijkenberg, and brought together clients and stakeholders from across the country. Building on that momentum, this year’s celebration is expected to draw even greater participation and inspire more taxpayers to embrace a culture of compliance.
