From scrubbing vehicles to owning a fleet-starter, 24-year-old Khombindlela Vilakati’s life took a dramatic turn this week. The Luve-based car wash attendant was named the grand prize winner of a brand-new Toyota Quantum in the inaugural Instacash “Win-a-Quantum” competition.
Vilakati was announced as the grand prize winner during a live draw held on Wednesday morning. The draw, which marked the conclusion of the nationwide competition, saw Vilakati’s name randomly selected from thousands of entries by a Channel YemaSwati journalist, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.
Moments after his name was drawn, Vilakati was contacted live and confirmed his identity, sharing that he resides in Luve and has been consistently purchasing raffle tickets since the competition launched last year. His persistence ultimately paid off, earning him one of the most sought-after prizes in the promotion.
Speaking shortly after receiving the life-changing news, Vilakati expressed overwhelming excitement and gratitude. Currently employed at a local car wash in Luve, the young winner said the prize represents more than just a vehicle, it is an opportunity to change his future. “I’m very happy. I didn’t expect this at all,” he said. “This will help me start something of my own.”

Vilakati revealed that he plans to use the Toyota Quantum to establish a transport business, a move he believes will not only improve his personal circumstances but also create opportunities within his community.
The minibus, commonly used for public transport, is expected to provide him with a steady income and a pathway to financial independence. The INSTACASH Win-a-Quantum competition attracted widespread participation across the country, with entrants purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win the grand prize.
The campaign forms part of Instacash’s broader efforts to engage customers and expand its footprint in Eswatini. With the competition now officially closed, Vilakati’s story stands as a testament to perseverance and the life-changing potential of such initiatives.
