The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC) and supported by the European Union, is officially inviting local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to register for the upcoming National Traders Directory.

This initiative is designed to be a central hub for Eswatini-based businesses, providing a digital platform to showcase products and services to a global audience. Once completed, the directory is expected to bridge the gap between local production and international demand, increasing visibility and opening doors to new trade opportunities.

EIPA says the directory will play a critical role in bridging information gaps that often hinder local businesses from reaching broader markets. By consolidating trader data into a single, accessible platform, potential investors, buyers, and partners will be able to identify and engage with Eswatini enterprises more efficiently.

Speaking on the initiative, Thandeka Dlamini, Manager for External Trade at EIPA, emphasized the importance of widespread participation from the business community. She noted that the success of the directory depends heavily on the willingness of traders to come forward and share accurate information about their operations.

“EIPA is calling on all traders across Eswatini to participate in this important exercise,” Dlamini said.

“Through the directory, businesses will benefit from increased exposure, stronger networking opportunities, and easier access to market intelligence. This Traders Directory is a powerful tool for Eswatini businesses to position themselves for growth.”

She added that inclusion in the directory will not only enhance business visibility but also provide access to valuable trade connections that can drive long-term sustainability. In a rapidly evolving global economy, tools such as the Traders Directory are becoming increasingly important in helping small and medium enterprises compete beyond their local markets.

As part of the development process, EIPA will conduct interviews with traders across the country between March and May 2026. These engagements are designed to gather critical business information and ensure that each listing in the directory is both accurate and meaningful. The process will also allow EIPA to better understand the challenges and opportunities faced by local traders, informing future interventions to support the sector.

The collaboration with the International Trade Centre brings valuable global expertise to the project, particularly in designing trade facilitation tools that align with international standards. Meanwhile, support from the European Union underscores the broader commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and sustainable development in Eswatini.

Industry observers have welcomed the initiative, noting that improved access to structured market information is essential for unlocking trade potential.

For many small businesses, limited visibility and lack of access to reliable networks remain key barriers to growth. The Traders Directory is expected to address these challenges by creating a more transparent and accessible business environment.

Ultimately, the development of the National Traders Directory reflects EIPA’s ongoing commitment to building a dynamic and inclusive trade ecosystem in Eswatini. By leveraging strategic partnerships and embracing digital solutions, the authority aims to empower local businesses to compete on a global stage and contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic development.

With the call for participation now open, traders across Eswatini are encouraged to take part in the exercise and position themselves for new opportunities in both regional and international markets.
