ESCCOM Donates 74 Pairs of School Shoes to Ezulwini Valley Primary

The Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) has made a meaningful gesture of community support by donating 74 pairs of school shoes, valued at approximately E12,000, to learners in need at Ezulwini Valley Primary School.

The handover ceremony, held at the school grounds in Ezulwini, marked more than a charitable contribution; it signified the Commission’s commitment to being an active and caring neighbor within the community it now calls home.

Addressing learners, parents, teachers, and community members, ESCCOM Chief Executive Mvilawemphi Dlamini described the initiative as a reflection of the Commission’s values and its staff’s compassion.

“It is a pleasure for us at ESCCOM to be here today. As a Commission, we proudly stand here not only as an organization but also as a neighbor, part of the Ezulwini community, and sharing in its hopes, challenges, and aspirations,” said Dlamini.

He emphasized that the donation was made possible entirely through voluntary contributions from ESCCOM employees, who purchased the shoes with their own funds.

“This act of generosity reflects the heart and spirit of the people who work at the Commission. It shows that beyond our regulatory mandate, we are committed to touching lives, uplifting children, and giving back in a personal and meaningful way,” he said. “To the ESCCOM staff, kuhle, kuyabongeka.”

Dlamini noted that the gesture symbolizes partnership, compassion, and community uplift, underscoring the belief that when a community thrives, all its stakeholders benefit. He encouraged them to value the opportunity and stay focused on their education.

“These shoes are a symbol of support, a reminder that you are not walking your journey alone. Please take care of them and wear them with pride. Stay focused, respect your teachers, and study hard. Above all, believe in yourself,” he said.

He further urged other organizations within Ezulwini and across the country to partner with schools and invest in the future of young people.

“Our schools need all of us. Whether through resources, mentorship programs, digital tools, infrastructure, or simply care, every act of giving counts. Together, we can make a profound and lasting impact,” Dlamini added.

The CE also noted that the donation complements ESCCOM’s broader Universal Access and Service initiatives, which focus on promoting digital inclusivity, digital literacy, and improved connectivity across Eswatini.

He said the Commission looks forward to deepening its relationship with schools as part of its broader community outreach efforts.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, Head Teacher Noah Lukhele expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commission and its staff for their generous gesture.

“We are truly grateful to ESCCOM and its staff for this generous donation. These shoes will make a real difference in the lives of our learners,” said Lukhele.

He acknowledged that although the school still has more pupils who require similar assistance, the support received would go a long way toward easing the burden faced by many families.

“There are more learners who need this kind of help, but we are grateful for what has been done today. It shows that there are institutions that care about our children and their futures,” he said.
