The Eswatini Roads Authority (ERA) has announced employment opportunities for two senior executive positions, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), as it strengthens leadership to deliver its national mandate of managing and transforming the country’s road infrastructure.
Established under the Roads Authority Act of 2023, the ERA is the national entity responsible for planning, developing, maintaining, and regulating Eswatini’s road network.
The Authority plays a strategic role in supporting economic growth, regional trade, and social development through improved connectivity, transparency, and independent governance.
According to the announcement, applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Eswatini citizens for the position of CEO, who will report directly to the ERA Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a five-year renewable contract, with a remuneration package aligned to Public Enterprise Category A. The CEO will provide overall strategic leadership and operational direction to the Authority.
Key responsibilities include formulating and implementing strategic plans, overseeing the development and maintenance of the national road network, ensuring compliance with legislation and corporate governance standards, and serving as the Accounting Officer of the ERA.
The role also involves advising the Board and the responsible Minister, managing large infrastructure projects, mobilising resources, and engaging with the government, development partners, and the public.

The Authority is seeking candidates with a minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience, including at least eight years at an executive or senior management level, preferably in transport infrastructure, public enterprises, or large organisations. A relevant bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree are required, along with membership in a recognized professional body.
In addition, the ERA is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to strengthen financial governance and sustainability. The CFO will report to the CEO and will be appointed on a three-year renewable contract, also aligned to Public Entity Category A.
The CFO will be responsible for strategic financial management, budgeting, revenue optimisation, financial reporting, and compliance with public-sector financial frameworks. The role includes overseeing annual financial statements, managing risk and internal controls, and providing financial advice to the CEO and the Board.
The CFO will also lead the Finance Department and support the long-term financial sustainability of the Authority. Minimum requirements for the CFO position include a Chartered Accountant qualification, at least 10 years’ relevant experience with five years at a managerial level, and proven expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Applications for both positions close on 22 January 2026. Only emailed applications will be accepted, and late submissions will not be considered.
Interested candidates must submit a motivation letter, a comprehensive curriculum vitae, and certified copies of academic certificates to SNG Grant Thornton Advisory (Eswatini) (Pty) Ltd.
The recruitment drive marks a significant step in positioning the ERA to deliver a modern, efficient, and sustainable road network for Eswatini.
