Dr Ncamsile Motsa, the Acting CEO of the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC), invites learners and parents to verify credentials, ensuring every investment of time, effort, and money translates into real opportunity.
Accreditation isn’t just bureaucracy. It serves as consumer protection, ensuring that institutions and programs meet nationally approved quality standards and are recognized by employers and universities both locally and internationally.
“Accreditation is the assurance that education delivers real value,” says Dr. Motsa. “It protects the financial, emotional, and time investment families make, and guarantees that students’ hard work leads to opportunities.” Without it, a qualification can become a dead end—unrecognized, costly, and career-limiting.
A timely message to the Class of 2025
With results expected in early 2026, ESHEC’s message is clear: pause, verify, and choose accredited options. Red flags to watch for include institutions not listed on ESHEC’s official register, unusually short completion timelines, vague contact details, and aggressive marketing without proof of accreditation. “Accreditation guarantees that effort and investment translate into real opportunity,” Dr. Motsa emphasizes. “Education should open doors, not close them.”
What the Choose Right, Choose Accredited campaign offers
The campaign centers on learners while supporting families and schools:
• Up-to-date lists of accredited institutions and programmes
• Digital tools to independently verify accreditation
• School and community outreach programmes
• Media guidance materials to help families make informed decisions
• Expanded parent-focused sensitisation sessions, helplines, and online resources
How schools and educators fit in

Teachers, headteachers and career guidance officers remain trusted voices. ESHEC collaborates with the Ministry of Education’s Career Guidance and Counselling Unit to equip schools with training, toolkits and reliable information, ensuring nationwide guidance.
Building trust for 2030
Beyond awareness, the campaign aims to restore trust in qualifications, institutions, and the system. By 2030, ESHEC envisions a transparent, competitive, and innovative higher education sector in which accredited qualifications are universally trusted, and students can choose with confidence.
Choosing right begins with choosing accredited. Parents and students can access ESHEC’s official list of accredited institutions and programmes at www.eshec.org.sz or contact ESHEC directly at 2404 9407. For quick verification, use the ESHEC accreditation check tool linked on the site.
