The Kingdom of Eswatini continues to make its mark on the global diplomatic stage through the participation of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lutfo Dlamini, at the MEDays Forum 2025 in Tangier, Morocco. The prestigious annual event, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will bring together world leaders, policymakers, and economic visionaries to deliberate on the most pressing global challenges and opportunities.

The Forum will be held from November 26 to 29, 2025.

This year marks Dlamini’s third consecutive participation in the forum, an acknowledgment of his enduring contribution to international diplomacy and economic cooperation. As Eswatini’s sole representative, his presence underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to constructive engagement and its recognition within international circles.

“It is a great honour and privilege to represent the Kingdom of Eswatini on such an influential platform,” Dlamini said. “Being the only Liswati among global leaders carries with it both pride and responsibility. I regard it as a recognition of our nation’s steady and values-driven approach to diplomacy, peace, and trade.”

A Global Forum of Strategic Importance

Now in its 17th edition, the MEDays Forum, themed “Fractures and Polarization: Reinventing the Global Equation,” convenes more than 300 high-level delegates from over 120 countries. The forum has become a critical space for strategic dialogue among government officials, former heads of state, foreign ministers, Nobel laureates, and global CEOs.

For Dlamini, who played a pivotal role in shaping Eswatini’s foreign and trade policy; the invitation symbolises a continued respect for his diplomatic record and for the Kingdom’s growing voice in global affairs.

“The forum captures the essence of the world’s transition,” he observed. “It provides an opportunity for the Global South, and Africa in particular, to redefine its influence in an evolving global order. It is not about seeking sympathy, but about affirming partnership and agency.”

Advancing Africa’s Development and Sovereignty

During the summit, a select group of former African Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers will convene in a closed session to explore ways of enhancing the continent’s political sovereignty and economic resilience, using Morocco’s diplomatic model as a case study.

Dlamini is expected to contribute to two key sessions:

• MEDays Investment Summit Roundtable: Assessing Africa’s Competitiveness in 2025

• Moroccan Diplomacy: Shaping African Sovereignty and Expanding Global Alliances

“These discussions go to the core of Africa’s long-term prosperity,” he said. “We are addressing issues of trade, security, energy, and cooperation. For Eswatini, participation in such forums is vital; these are the spaces where the continent’s future is being shaped.”

He added that MEDays offers unique opportunities for business diplomacy:

“It is one of the few platforms where Africa engages directly with the world’s leading investors and decision-makers without leaving the continent.”

Diplomacy Rooted in Vision and Values

Dlamini’s extensive career in government and public service has been characterised by a strong belief in diplomacy as a tool for sustainable development and peaceful cooperation. His participation reflects His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of a nation that builds bridges through dialogue, mutual respect, and strategic partnerships.

“The world recognises Eswatini as a nation of peace, dialogue, and dignity,” Dlamini affirmed. “Diplomacy is not about the loudest voice, but about the most principled one. That has always been Eswatini’s approach.”

He expressed deep appreciation to His Majesty King Mswati III for his foresight in establishing a fully-fledged Embassy of Eswatini in Rabat, noting that this strategic decision continues to open doors for bilateral and multilateral cooperation in North Africa and beyond.

“His Majesty’s vision has expanded our diplomatic horizons and strengthened our engagement with both African and global partners,” he said.

A Proud Moment for the Kingdom

Eswatini’s representation at MEDays 2025 reaffirms the Kingdom’s dedication to active participation in international dialogue and its commitment to advancing African unity and self-determination. Through the leadership and continued engagement of experienced diplomats such as Dlamini, Eswatini’s voice remains one of reason, integrity, and vision in the global arena.

“To serve and represent my Kingdom on the world stage is the greatest honour,” Dlamini concluded. “It is a responsibility I carry with deep humility and unwavering pride.”
