To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, OncAura Wellness Centre, located at Philani Clinic in Manzini, has launched a discounted breast cancer and breast health screening programme for women aged 40 and above, available until October 31, 2025. The initiative offers mammograms, including ultrasound scans, at a reduced rate of E1,500, nearly 30 percent off the standard price, with payments accepted via cash or medical aid cards to ensure broader accessibility.
Lindiwe Fokazi, Chief Operations Officer for Radiotherapy Services at OncAura, announced the programme, emphasizing the critical role of early detection in treating breast cancer effectively. She urged wellness officers in public and private sectors to promote participation and encouraged women to book appointments promptly due to the anticipated high demand.
The screenings will be conducted by an experienced team, including radiologists, radiographers, a radiation oncologist, and a urologist, who will analyse mammograms and ultrasound scans, providing preliminary reports immediately. Fokazi highlighted that breast cancer may lack visible symptoms, making regular screenings essential for early intervention.
This initiative empowers women to take proactive control of their breast health, addressing a disease that affects approximately 2.3 million women annually, according to the World Health Organization. Early detection through mammograms can identify abnormalities like lumps or calcifications before they are palpable, significantly improving treatment outcomes. Annual or biennial screenings are particularly recommended for women over 40, especially those with risk factors such as family history or genetic predispositions.
OncAura Wellness Centre, previously Swaziland Radiology Services, is positioning itself as a leading cancer treatment facility in Southern Africa. The Centre currently screens for various cancers, including breast, cervical, lung, prostate, and colon, and plans to introduce comprehensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy services in the coming weeks.
This breast cancer screening campaign builds on the success of OncAura’s June 2025 Pensioners Free Screening initiative, which provided free screenings to 300 elderly individuals, demonstrating the community’s need for accessible healthcare. Fokazi noted that the positive response to the pensioners’ program inspired this effort to extend affordable screenings to women, reinforcing the importance of preventive healthcare.
Regular screenings enable early identification of abnormalities, leading to less invasive treatments and better outcomes, particularly for those with risk factors like age, genetics, or lifestyle choices.
By offering discounted rates and raising awareness, OncAura aims to make proactive health measures more accessible. Women and organisations interested in participating can contact OncAura at 25052933 or 78029604 to schedule appointments, ensuring timely access to this vital service.
