The Eswatini Competition Commission has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Muziwandile Dlamini, will be leaving the organization on 31 March 2026 to pursue new opportunities outside the Commission.
Muziwandile Dlamini assumed office on 1 April 2020 and has led the Commission for more than five years, a period marked by institutional strengthening and organizational transformation. Under his leadership, the Commission advanced investigations and adjudications on competition matters, ensuring enforcement of fair competition and consumer protection across the Kingdom.
Under his leadership, the Commission made significant strides in stakeholder management, advocacy, and public awareness of the Commission’s mandate. Dlamini also spearheaded the Commission’s organizational transformation agenda, laying the foundation for the institution’s long-term vision.
In a statement, Board Chairperson Sandile Simelane commended Dlamini’s contributions: “The Board of Commissioners extends its sincere gratitude to Muziwandile for his dedication and the progress achieved during his five and a half years with the Commission.”
Before joining the Competition Commission, Dlamini built a distinguished career in financial services and investment management. He served as Managing Director of Metropolitan Life Swaziland, Chief Executive Officer of Fairlife Benefit Services Company Swaziland, and Managing Director – Asset Management at Sanlam Investment Management Swaziland.
He is also the Founder and Non-Executive Director of Fiduciary Trusteeship Services, and has held the role of Non-Executive Director at Insika Financial Services (Pty) Ltd.
This extensive background equipped him with deep expertise in asset management, employee benefits, and corporate governance, which he carried into his role at the Competition Commission.
Simelane announced that the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive Officer will commence soon, ensuring a smooth leadership transition. According to the statement, the incoming leader will be expected to build on the existing foundation while driving a high-performance culture and strengthening the Commission’s financial sustainability.
“On behalf of the Board, we thank Muziwandile for his contribution to the Commission’s mandate and wish him every success in his future endeavours,” Simelane said.
