MTN Eswatini has committed E1.3 million towards its 2025 Y’ello Care campaign, aiming to transform the lives of more than 705,700 emaSwati through a range of impactful and sustainable community development projects.
The investment marks an increase of E100,000 from the 2025 campaign, reaffirming MTN’s growing dedication to social impact in Eswatini.
Themed “Connecting at the Roots through Digital Platforms,” the 2025 Y’ello Care campaign was officially launched at the Malkerns Country Club. The initiative forms part of MTN’s flagship 21-day staff volunteerism drive, which focuses on digital education, healthcare, clean water access, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment.
Chief Executive Officer of MTN Eswatini, Wandile Mtshali, emphasized that this year’s campaign is not just about service—it’s about building a digital legacy.
“This year, we are committing over E1.3 million towards projects that will not only transform lives but shape the digital future of our country,” said Mtshali. “We are building a movement, not just a campaign.”
Leading the initiatives is the Government in Your Hand App, a digital innovation developed in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology. The app is set to benefit over 700,000 smartphone users across the country by offering centralized, user-friendly access to key government services—including healthcare, education, and identity management—cutting long queues and placing essential services directly into citizens’ hands.
Through the campaign, MTN Eswatini is also addressing clean water access through the installation of solar-powered boreholes at Mbukwane and Mkhuzweni Primary Schools, in partnership with Standard Bank. This project will provide clean, sustainable water to over 1,200 students and surrounding communities, improving hygiene and fostering better learning environments.
The campaign will also provide e-commerce training to 500 entrepreneurs and small business owners, in collaboration with A Peculiar People and the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA). Additionally, 300 farmers will be linked to digital markets through the E-Market Platform Training, developed in partnership with NAMBOARD and EIPA.
The CEO added that in a move to future-proof education, more than 200 rural school teachers will undergo AI-powered learning training, thanks to support from UNESWA AI Academy, Nandos, and the Ministry of Education.

“The campaign will also tackle transport issues through road-access improvements, benefiting over 1,500 students in remote regions,” he said.
Finally, the Community Podcast Initiative with Oracle Group Eswatini will bring critical content to thousands of listeners, ensuring that learning and engagement continue well beyond the campaign.
“These numbers are more than statistics—they represent lives changed, communities strengthened, and futures secured,” Mtshali concluded. “Together, with our partners and communities, we are building a digital legacy that will last far beyond these 21 days.”
