ERS Launches “Bafundzise” Campaign

The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) continues to launch initiatives that help educate and capacitate its clients on tax compliance.

The latest one is a nationwide, door-to-door client educational drive called “Bafundzise”, a campaign geared toward educating, enabling, and empowering local businesses.

A media statement issued by ERS Director of Client Services Riccardo Kruger states that the visits are scheduled to start on March 17, 2025, in the Manzini City Centre.

They will primarily target micro and small businesses in the country. “This initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to supporting local businesses by providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary for tax compliance and growth,” Kruger notes.

ERS officers easily identifiable by their branded uniforms and official ID cards, will be visiting businesses to engage in meaningful conversations as well as educate about tax obligations and customs opportunities.

The Director of Client Services further stated, “The ‘Bafundzise’ campaign embodies our commitment to standing alongside our clients as partners, not just as a tax collector.”

“Through this initiative, we are taking a proactive approach to educating and enabling all businesses, especially small and micro segments to navigate tax compliance with ease. Our consultants will visit businesses across the country to inform business owners about what is required to remain compliant and showcase the various channels and options available to meet their obligations.”

Kruger added that the campaign will highlight how customs operations may assist businesses in navigating and expanding outside of the Eswatini markets.

He further encouraged Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and micro-business owners to take full advantage of this initiative by asking questions and actively engaging with ERS teams.

“This campaign provides a unique opportunity for ERS to simplify the tax compliance process, offer meaningful education, and equip businesses with essential knowledge on tax and customs compliance, all within the comfort of their business premises,” he concluded.
