58% OF NATIONAL BUDGET COMES FROM BUSINESS ESWATINI MEMBERS

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Business Eswatini (BE), Nathi Dlamini says the success of businesses in the country is crucial if the country is to succeed. The CEO has disclosed interesting statistics, noting that 58% of the country’s national budget comes from BE members through the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) receipts.

Dlamini was speaking at the company’s headquarters where one of their member’s; the Happy Valley Hotel was handing over a financial donation to Cheshire Homes, as well as Hope House. The CEO noted that the success of businesses in the country, was important as it has a spill-over effect on the entire economy. “Most people are not aware of the fact that BE represents over 22 sectors, and close to one thousand (1000) companies are members, and most importantly, these companies hire over 90 000 employees. Also, the wealth of this nation, including the SACU receipts, which the country relies heavily on, come exclusively from our members. About 58% of the country’s national budget comes from our members, through the SACU receipts. We are the primary creators of national wealth” the CEO noted.

Additionally, the CEO observed that entities such as the Happy Valley Hotel should be accorded respect because of their contribution to the economy. He said the private sector has done a lot foe the country. Dlamini revealed that the private sector has done a number of things such as spending E3 million vaccinating the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
